The site was developed using the latest technology, i.e. the functions are optimised for the current generation of browsers. We therefore recommend that you upgrade your browser to the newest generation.
You can download all eBooks and help tools onto your reading device of choice (computer, tablet, smartphone, eReader) and read or use them offline. You will, however, need an internet connection in order to download them.
You may make back-up copies of the data for your own use. Please note, however, that you are not allowed to store help tools and eBooks on a server (e.g. in your company) to which several people have access. For copyright reasons, the data may only be used by the buyer.
Information on file format and apps
I have several books from Haufe. How can I switch between the eBooks?
If you are currently on a book page, simply select the "Home page" button. There you can enter the book code of another Haufe title.
Why do I have to enter the book code every time?
When you close your browser, the session is closed. After restarting the device, you therefore need to enter the book code again.
Why can't I link the book code to my Haufe account?
A link to the Haufe account would mean that every book customer has to register once with his or her personal data. As this has a deterrent effect on many buyers, we consciously decided against it.
How do I access my help tools?
There is an individual book code on the first page of your book. Enter this code on the home page. You will then see all the tools and further information about the topic on the download page.
What are Top Help Tools?
These are the most important tools for your book. There are normally up to three help tools in this section.
How do I use the help tools?
You can either open the help tools directly on-screen or save them on your computer. To edit them, we recommend that you save the tools on your computer.
How do I open the help tools?
To open the help tools, simply click on the file name. Then select the program you want to use to open the help tool and confirm with "OK".
Please note that, depending on the file format, you will need to have the corresponding program for the file format (e.g. Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDF, Microsoft Office for Word or Excel) on your computer.
How do I download the help tools?
To download the help tools, simply click on the file name. Then select "Save file" and the folder in which you wish to save it. Please note that help tools cannot be downloaded or edited on individual mobile devices.
Getting started with Haufe eBooks
How can I access my eBook?
You have received a Haufe eBook card as a present or purchased a Haufe specialist book.
On the back of the eBook card you can find an individual book code. This is located on the first page of your Haufe specialist book. (Please note the details on the validity period and the number of times you can download an eBook.) Enter this book code on the home page. All eBook download formats can be found on the eBook detail screen that is then displayed.
How can I download my eBook directly onto my mobile end device?
The three common download formats for the standard end devices are displayed on the eBook detail screen. (Details on the most suitable formats for the respective end devices can be found under Information on file formats and apps)
Click on the "Download" button for the desired format. The eBook will now be downloaded. If you perform the download using a smartphone or tablet, a prompt will appear once the download process is complete instructing you to open the eBook in the recommended program (Apple: iBooks; Amazon: Kindle app; Google: Google Books). You can then open the file in your usual display format and read the book.
Notes on downloading in the Amazon Kindle product family:
- Kindle Paperwhite
Go to the start screen of your device and use the navigation bar at the top right to open the beta browser. Enter the URL for the download page of your eBook and download the MOBI file. Once the download is complete, you will find the downloaded eBook on the start screen of your Kindle.
- Kindle app for iPad
Open Safari. Enter the URL for the download page of your eBook and download the MOBI file. Once the download has been successfully completed, the "Open in Kindle" option appears. Confirm this. Your eBook is opened within the Kindle app.
- Kindle Fire HD
Go to Web to open your browser. Enter the URL for the download page of your eBook and download the MOBI file. A prompt may appear asking whether you wish to download the file and specifying the memory location of the eBook following the download. Press "OK".
You are now informed that the download has started. Please note: the process may take a considerable time to complete. Depending on the version, the download progress is displayed in the status bar (top left). After the download has been successfully completed, a "Download complete" message appears.
Open the browser menu and go to the "Downloads" folder. You can now open your eBook here.
If in future you also wish to access the eBook directly from the start screen of your Kindle, we recommend downloading via your PC. The procedure is explained in full here.
How can I transfer my eBook from my computer to my mobile end device?
Devices from Apple, such as iPhone, iPad, iPad mini:
- Download the eBook to your computer.
- Connect your Apple device to your computer.
- Drag and drop the file from its memory location to your iTunes Media folder (books).
- Synchronise your Apple device.
- You can now open the eBook using iBooks
Devices from the Amazon Kindle family
- Download the eBook to your computer.
- Connect your Amazon Kindle device to your computer.
- Drag and drop the file from its memory location to the Kindle folder (Kindle Fire: Books).
- You can now open the eBook on your Kindle.
End devices with a Google Android operating system, such as Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy
- Download the eBook to your computer.
- Visit your Google library on the internet and log in with your Google account.
- Under Books -> My books, select the "Upload files" command. Select your eBook from the memory location and load it to your Google Play library.
- Now open the Google Play Books Android app on your end device, go to Menu and select "Update".
- You can now read the eBook on your Android device at any time.

Can I download all file formats with one code?
Your book code provides information on the validity period and on the number of downloads you are entitled to. For example, if you are entitled to 3 downloads, you can download the same file three times or all three formats once each. If there is no information on the number of downloads, you can download the eBook an unlimited number of times within the validity period.
What are the differences between the various file formats?
Although the PDF format is compatible with many devices, it has the disadvantage that the text size cannot be altered and the text flow cannot be adjusted to fit the screen size.
EPUB (electronic publication) is an open standard for eBooks. The format can be opened with a suitable app on most devices.
MOBI is the suitable format for Amazon's Kindle range. With the help of a Kindle reader app, the format can also be opened on other devices. However, you need a Kindle account to do this.

After entering the book code, the download does not start or is aborted. What can I do?
There are various potential causes for this problem. Here's a brief overview with possible solutions.
1. Internet connection
The most important prerequisite for an optimal download is a stable broadband connection. The normal mobile network can be subject to fluctuations, possibly resulting in a download being aborted. In this case, attempt the download again, preferably using an available wireless LAN with a strong signal.
2. QR code scanner
If you accessed our download page via a QR code, this can be a possible cause of a faulty download. Some QR code scanners have an integrated browser that does not support the eBook download. We therefore recommend that you enter the URL ebook.haufe.de directly into your standard browser, call up the eBook page and start the download again. Alternatively, most QR code scanners allow you to use your standard browser.
3. Maximum downloads
The number of possible downloads per eBook is generally limited. Information regarding this can be found on the eBook download page. If you have already reached the maximum number as a result of the aborted downloads, please contact our support.
4. None of the three causes
Should none of the three causes listed above apply, download the eBook using your computer and subsequently move it to your mobile end device. Information on this can be found in Getting started with Haufe eBooks.
